Teaching Plan

Curriculum

There are two curricula implemented in The School for Creative Beginners:

  1. Standards and Competencies for Five-Year-Old Filipino Children is a K to 12 Kindergarten Curriculum Guide of the Department of Education in the Philippines. This guides the teachers to facilitate explorations of young Filipino learners in an engaging, creative, and child-centered curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and which immerses them in meaningful experiences.

  2. Multiple Intelligences or MI differentiates account for a broader range of child’s potential in learning. This intelligence is linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalistic intelligence. It suggests that teacher must present their lesson in a wide variety of ways which helps the children to reach their potential in the physical, emotional, social, moral and intellectual domain.

Teaching Plan

There is no precise teaching plan format used in writing the lesson plan in preschool. This depends on the teacher’s desire for as long as the aspects needed are present and complete for that day of the lesson. I have created two (2) format of a lesson plan during my practice teaching in SCB. These lesson plans were adopted from my co-practicummers in the school.

My Initial Demonstration:

LESSON PLAN

Initial Demonstration

Objective

At the end of the lesson the learners must have:

  1. Identify the numbers before 1-10 through coloring.

  2. Showed interested counting forward and backward number from 1 to 10

  3. Matched the picture and paste it below the syllables 3 or 4.

Lesson Proper

Motivation

The teacher will write the number 1 to 10 onboard and the learners will count forward from 1-10. After counting, the teacher will ask the learners to count backward. The learners will be given the worksheet to identify the number before.

The learners will see the pictures on the board, the teacher will point of the picture and claps for the name of the picture. The learners will count how many claps to know which is syllables 3 or syllables 4.

1st Lesson Scheme

  1. The teacher will write the number 1 to 10 on the board.

  2. The teacher will point out the number and ask the learners to count forward.

  3. The teacher will point again the numbers and ask the learners to count backward.

  4. After counting, the teacher will give an example to the learners.

  5. The worksheet will be given to the learners and they will be guided by the teacher.

2nd Lesson Scheme

  1. The teacher will review the syllables.

  2. The teacher will introduce the pictures on board (syllables 3 and 4)

  3. The teacher will give an example using a word that has 3 and 4 syllables (through claps).

  4. The teacher will ask the learners one by one to answer how many claps and put the pictures below the finger 3 or 4.

Generalization

The teacher will ask the learners to summarize their lesson:

  1. What have you learned today?

  2. How to count forward?

  3. How to count backward?

Evaluation

Each learner will be asked to count forward and backward. After the number before 1-10 activity, each learner also will be asked to count how many syllables for the picture and paste it on the board one by one.
