My Cooperating School

The School for Creative Beginners tries their best to provide the child with the best facilities and professionally trained teachers. The vision is to assist parents for the optimum development of children during their crucial years. So that Bacolod will become curious learners, emotionally adaptable to change, and independent thinkers who are anchored on strong Christian values, have the will to act, and are confident, articulate, competent, cultured, and well mannered about themselves ready to face a much bigger world beyond preschool and also ready to face the challenges before them.

Observation on Teacher and Pedagogical Content

I was deployed to the class with 4 – 5 years old students. The class daily routine starts with circle time. Students sing together with the teachers, complete the calendar board, sing and read the alphabet cards. The teacher also chooses a little teacher to lead the counting number 1 – 100. Before the lesson proper begins, the teacher will ask the students one by one to do the color zone. The students will put their name tags to the emotion that they felt for that day.

Teaching Plan

I
There is no precise teaching plan format used in writing the lesson plan in preschool. This depends on the teacher’s desire for as long as the aspects needed are present and complete for that day of the lesson. I have created two (2) format of a lesson plan during my practice teaching in SCB. These lesson plans were adopted from my co-practicummers in the school.

Teaching Practice

Since I was deployed to a private school that teaches specific subjects according to their own school curriculum, I have to make a lesson plan and activities that match to subjects being taught in their class.

Before my demonstration, I have to ask first my cooperating teacher about the subject that is needed to be taught to the students and make sure that my activities are appropriate for the students.

Summary and Suggestions

I moved to a completely different place that has a different culture, language, food, and also religion. One of the most challenging parts is the language that public school uses when I have my observation. I just observed the flow of the class. As much as I want to talk to the children in school I can’t understand their language as well as the students because they are using mother tongue-based language. I also have a hard time making my lesson plan because they have different format on how they made their plan. Though they use different formats of lesson plans, I was able to make mine with the semi-detailed format where I need to put the details and flow of my lesson during my demonstration.
