The School for Creative Beginner

Vision and Mission

The School for Creative Beginners tries their best to provide the child with the best facilities and professionally trained teachers. The vision is to assist parents for the optimum development of children during their crucial years. So that children in Bacolod will become curious learners, emotionally adaptable to change, and independent thinkers who are anchored on strong Christian values, have the will to act, and are confident, articulate, competent, cultured, and well mannered about themselves ready to face a much bigger world beyond preschool and also ready to face the challenges before them.

Beginnings of SCB

March 10, 1993

Ma. Lourdes “Lulu” Cano-Sarrosa and Ermeline “Vida” Pitco-Hilado put their minds and experience together and founded the HILCASA EDUCATORS COMPANY, which had been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Their vision is having more confident Bacolodnons who are articulate with critical minds and well developed psychomotor skills.

June 1993

HILCASA then proceeded to operate The School for Creative Beginners (SCB), a preschool perceived to specialize in the physical, emotional, social, mental and spiritual development of children ages two to five years old. At the time, there were twenty-eight children as its initial enrollment.

 

June 1995

The Department of Education, Culture and Sports granted government recognition to The School for Creative Beginners (SCB) for maintaining its high quality standart of early childhood education.

 

2007

The School for Creative Beginners (SCB) was recognized by the Bureau of Immigration to accept foreign students with AAFS No. MCL – 2007-182

 

September 2009

Teacher Inah C. Abijay and Teacher Lulu C. Sarrosa developed The LAP (Literacy Acqusition Progra,). They have their mind that every child has the capacity to a of language; speaking, listening, writing, and reading.

 

June 2010

Teacher Inah and Teacher Lulu embraced the US method in teaching writing “Handwriting without Tears”

 

June 2011

The annex building was constructed. This building will be the new home of The Study Room Tutorial and Activity Center which will house the Tutorial Services, LAP and Penmanship Program and the Day Care Center.

June 2014

Teacher Inah decided to leave SCB to go full time as College Professor at USLS Graduate School and opened her Activity Lounge where LAP its progress.

 

June 2016

The Study Room Tutorial building is now home of Skill Builders Class with three separate classrooms on the 2nd floor. Booster Classes for Care and Brown levels started as a support class to assist children with assignment and help children in developing hard to fulfill tasks.

 

April 2018

The whole main building was remodeled to create a safe and holistic environment.

Teaching System

The SCB has a prepared lesson plan for the whole year-round. The preparation of the lessons for every level is done by the teachers ahead every week. The students are expected to perform certain domains of the Multiple Intelligences which are incorporated in everyday activities. The instructions are focused on teaching mathematics, reading, and writing. Teachers in SCB uses more traditional and a mixed of play-based approach depending on the level or age of the students.

Teachers commonly use workbooks as their basic learning material for activities in answering mathematics, reading, and writing. Concrete materials are also utilized for the students to learn and observe using their senses. Other learning resources and facilities found in SCB are the following:

Curriculum

The School for Creative Beginners provides a curriculum that revolves around a fun learning environment that identifies the children’s strengths and help the children to reach potential physically, emotionally, socially, morally and intellectually. This school incorporates the Multiple Intelligences theory as an approach in learning. The curriculum is enriched with current innovations that help motivate young minds to become enthusiastic learners who are active explorers and are not afraid to try out their ideas in the real world.  This school also incorporate the K-12 Curriculum from the Department of Education of the Philippines.
